Live on the Waterfront in Talbot County, MD
Bordered to the west by Chesapeake Bay, Talbot Country presents numerous options for living right on the waterfront. Talbot County is located on the eastern shore of Maryland; with a population of approximately 38,000, it has a rich history dating back from before 1661. Its name comes from the wife of Sir Robert Talbot, Lady Grace Talbot. Within the county lies the Choptank River; it was named for a tribe of Indians, prior inhabitants of the area before it was settled by the English. With such an interesting heritage, there are many places within the county that are in the National Register of Historic Places. More than 600 miles of shoreline, set with charming villages and small town sophistication set Talbot County apart. With the oldest private ferry in the country dating from 1683, the ferry began running again, after ceasing service during the American Revolution. Resuming service in 1836, it has continued since then.
